Today our friend Christos from Cyprus (who actually lives in Athens) will come to visit us. He’ll take along a friend as well. They are staying for 8 days in Amsterdam and he wants to show Rotterdam to his friend as well. So, this afternoon we will get them from the trainstation and then go and do some shopping in the centre of Rotterdam.

In the evening we’re going to attend ‘Villa Achterdeur‘ which is a great party here in Rotterdam. The party is in ‘Off Corso’ and starts from 19:00 till 01:00. We hope they will like it just as much as we always do

Tomorrow Menno will be attending a computer course (writing php) and I’ll travel with our friends throughout the country towards Utrecht (where Menno will be) and finally bring them back to Amsterdam. So, it’s a busy schedule for us these coming days… But we’ll enjoy it!

Tonight we’ll be celebrating halloween in our neighbourhood. It’s not common for us Dutchies to celebrate this so it’s difficult to make it special. This year it is very hard to find a decent sized pumpkin!

Our city supports the people who do stuff together to make the neighbourhood a better place. They call it “opzoomeren”, named after the first street that started this. This year it’s the third time we celebrate this and it gets bigger every year. Last year there even was a haunted house in the street next to us… how cool is that!?

All the children dress up and go to the houses for trick or treat. So they sing their little song and then we give them some candy Ofcourse we need to to something special for the kids too and we “pimp” our garden a little to make it spooky. We probably have as much fun as the kids: preparing a scary garden :p Later tonight or tomorrow we will add a gallery with some pictures.

Update: It was great fun! They made a haunted house a few streets next to us and it was really scary… the kids (and their parents) loved our garden and we enjoyed ourselves also. Check out the gallery for the pictures.

Moesten we zomaar opeens op de cavia van de buren passen. Dat vonden we natuurlijk heel erg, zo’n lief knuffelbaar beestje erbij Thomas (de jongste van onze katten) vindt het allemaal erg spannend en is een beetje bang van dat rare beest dat van die gekke geluiden maakt. Volgens mij vindt Snuf mij wel lief, hij komt steeds even kijken als ik in de buurt ben en hij maakt van die lieve geluidjes als ik hem aai… Dat zou toch niet komen omdat ik hem steeds lekkere dingen geef?

We’re going to Athens to visit our friend Christos! We’ve known him for a very long time, he also attended our wedding in 2003, and actually never visit him in his house in Athens. So we figured that it would be time to make him happy with our visit. After calling him we found out that he’ll also be coming to Amsterdam / Rotterdam next week.

So, we’ll be staying in the centre of Athens for 8 days, starting november 17th. We’ll try to go and explore as much as possible. And yes, we’d been warned to bring along our wintercoat as well. It might be very cold in november… We’ll see, we’ll see!

Okay seems we’re getting somewhere with the site. All the major scripts have been reinstalled with the latest versions and the gallery has been filled with all the old pictures. Too bad we lost the comments and older stories but at least we’re back

Reinstalled the cam with the normal 4:3 aspect ratio, works better than widescreen. Danny said he would be turning it on more often now since it is less of a hassle then before with changing from 4:3 to 16:9… we’ll have to see if he keeps his promise :p

For a personal note: i’ve been feeling sick since friday (must have been some bad air coming from the broken dishwasher :p) but today I’m feeling much better! Still a bit of a headache and a bit dizzy when i stand up but at least I have the energy to do something. Tomorrow I’ll be going back to work… I get a little bit bored being in the house :p
