I’ve also been busy the last 6 months with my study. Study? Danny? Yes… I am really studying and you know, I actually enjoy it. There is only one thing that I don’t like and that is the fact that it looks like you have no time left. It’s pretty hard to study and work at the same time. But after my latest semester I should at least be able to manage my own time better! Anyway, it is only 3 months and then I will finish this study. The study is all about management. Since I do want to become a projectmanager I figured it would be wise to have a study which would teach me more details I might need later on.

While we’ve been so busy we hardly had any time for some travelling, but we’re starting to plan stuff again. We’re thinking about going back to Portugal for two weeks. This will probably be on june 14th, right one day after my last day at school. We’ll travel together with our friend Frank. In Portugal we can try to understand the portuguese language better, since we’re going to travel around Brazil in october. We’re planning to travel troughout the whole country, probably starting in Rio and flying around the country. We’re now reading stuff and trying to figure out what would be our best choises. We’ll probably just book a flight and see what we will visit once we’re there. So, if you have some suggestions about Portugal (Algarve) or Brazil, just let us know!

So every now and then I started to try again if I could fix the flashplayer issues… always resulting in utter frustration. But today, as I was reading a computer magazine about cleaning registry and stuff I found a program that I just wanted to try for speeding up my clogged system.

I downloaded and installed Advanced WindowsCare V2 Personal which is free for personal use. I scanned all and the program found several issues in my registry, some of them related to the flashplayer. Then I thought… maybe this fixes my problem and I decides to let it fix all and then reboot. My hands were shaking when I started Internet Explorer and I saw stuff on the adobe.com website I hadn’t seen for a long time… And now I can tell you guys that this program not only fixed my registry but also my long lasting problem with Adobe flashplayer Hurray!

Helaas het feest gaat niet door… concert was niet officieel bevestigd en gaat NIET door.

Volgens de laatste berichten gaat alles WEL door De kaarten gaan later opnieuw in de verkoop, maar reeds verkochte kaarten blijven geldig… JOEHOE!!! Toch nog geldige kaartjes!! De normale voorverkoop zal als alles klopt nu op woensdag 9 januari beginnen.

Toen we het gekke masker zagen en Danny het gezicht nadeed dachten we laten we er een foto van maken. Meteen begon ze vanaf de andere kant van de zaal te gillen “not allowed NOT ALLOWED!!”.  De foto was snel gemaakt dus ze kon er toch niets meer aan doen. Chris vond het een beetje overdreven, zeker omdat we het beeld niet hadden aangeraakt dus hij ging even met de dame praten. Nu begrijpen wij geen Grieks, maar echt vriendelijk ging het er niet aan toe. Het kwam er op neer dat het “niet gepast” was om “zulke oude beelden belachelijk te maken”. Chris was het er niet mee eens en heeft haar dat even duidelijk laten weten.

Omdat je het natuurlijk maar nooit weet, en omdat het beeld er nou ook niet echt vriendelijk uit zag, bij deze toch nog onze welgemeende excuses aan het beeld We willen natuurlijk nog wel rustig kunnen slapen als we weer thuis zijn…

Het doel waar ik de wiki voor ga gebruiken is het makkelijk beheren van een handboek. En laat dat nu net de ’specialiteit’ van de DokuWiki zijn. Met een aantal plugins (indexmenu, composer) vormt het een prima oplossing om documentatie eenvoudig te beheren. De grote voordelen van de wiki zijn dat het goed doorzoekbaar is, makkelijk te editen en door het wiki-concept zit er een automatisch versiebeheer in. Met de plugins wordt het makkelijk gemaakt om delen of zelfs het gehele handboek in één keer uit te printen. Vooral dat laatste is erg belangrijk, omdat een hoop handboeken gewoon dagelijks gebruikt worden om in te bladeren, misschien zelfs terwijl je op de computer handelingen uitvoert die in het handboek beschreven worden.

Komende week ga ik alles even een beetje laten bezinken als we een weekje in Athene zitten. Daarna ga ik aan de slag om een mooie layout te maken die een beetje aansluit op de huisstijl en het niveau van de mensen die er uiteindelijk dingen in op moeten zoeken. Alle ‘overbodige’ knoppen gaan er dus uit en de print-stylesheet ga ik aanpassen zodat de outpu zo dicht mogelijk bij een “traditioneel’ handboek komt te liggen.

Anyway, we’ll be leaving the house with the cats again and Danny’s sister will take care of them. but this will be the last last trip (at least for this year lol). If we manage to do something besides enjoying nightlife and shopping then we’ll take some nice pictures to show when we get back home. In the evening we’re going to attend ‘Villa Achterdeur‘ which is a great party here in Rotterdam. The party is in ‘Off Corso’ and starts from 19:00 till 01:00. We hope they will like it just as much as we always do

Tomorrow Menno will be attending a computer course (writing php) and I’ll travel with our friends throughout the country towards Utrecht (where Menno will be) and finally bring them back to Amsterdam. So, it’s a busy schedule for us these coming days… But we’ll enjoy it!

Our city supports the people who do stuff together to make the neighbourhood a better place. They call it “opzoomeren”, named after the first street that started this. This year it’s the third time we celebrate this and it gets bigger every year. Last year there even was a haunted house in the street next to us… how cool is that!?

All the children dress up and go to the houses for trick or treat. So they sing their little song and then we give them some candy Ofcourse we need to to something special for the kids too and we “pimp” our garden a little to make it spooky. We probably have as much fun as the kids: preparing a scary garden :p Later tonight or tomorrow we will add a gallery with some pictures.

Update: It was great fun! They made a haunted house a few streets next to us and it was really scary… the kids (and their parents) loved our garden and we enjoyed ourselves also. Check out the gallery for the pictures.
